Wrap Adventure - News/Update Preview - 002


So some things happened during this month that while is necessary for the development of the game (updating my support websites and planning on upgrading my PC) did delay some plans so I mostly ended up only doing some changes to the game's coding. These changes are not that noticeable when you play the demo, but these changes help me make the systems in the game communicate with each other better and lower the need to code in workarounds. Lastly, I realized I needed to make a big change to the games level design, cause after months of trying to figure out to make this work, I realize the original design might not be best. Originally I was thinking of going for a sort of Metroidvania-style level design, but those tend to work when your character has a lot of Freedom (Pun Intended) in movement and actions. So instead I am gonna focus on a more Linear structure, with small areas (few rooms) where you had to solve a puzzle and/or avoid obstacles in order to progress to the next area. I know some are gonna be disappointed with me taking that direction in the games level design, but I feel like this is the best setup for this kind of game, and it's less trouble to design small areas that are put together instead of creating one massive level.
